i love that movie. i was watching it the other night and i was just thinking how simply beautiful and classic it is. it's timeless really. that story of jim and judy. confused teens, caught in that awkward space between childhood and adulthood....ah, classic. my favorite scene is by far the one where they're lying on the floor of the old mansion and judy rests her chin on jim's face and jim says "hi" and she says "hi" and then she talks about how she loves somebody and how she was always looking for someone to love her but now she's finally found somebody that she loves and it's so easy and then they kiss passionately. aaaah, i just love that movie. i love retroness and all that, and of course the fact that james dean was incredibly gorgeous, but even if i didn't i think i'd still like rebel without a cause. it's just great. everything, james dean, natalie wood, the music, and especially the clothes. so here i've compiled a wardrobe and playlist inspired by that seen in one of my favorite movies of all time.

ah, this is hard. my moods vary so much that it's like everyday it could be something else. at one point in my life, my theme song would definitely be "rebel girl" by bikini kill. because yes, i did think i was the queen of the neighborhood. ha. at another point, it definitely would have been "you don't own me" by lesley gore...and to some degree it still is. okay, back in the day, it was for sure "smells like teen spirit" because i had like the most teen angst of any person in the entire world...hahaha. others have definitely included "frankie" by connie francis, "love/hate" by betty blowtorch, "edge of seventeen" by stevie nicks, "killing an arab" by the cure, "jack and diane" by john mellencamp (but only the chorus, ha), "dammit" by blink-182, "all hail the heartbreaker" by the spill canvas, "i wish you'd die" by betty blowtorch, "surrender" by cheap trick, "i don't wanna know" by the donnas, and others....
but what about now? sometimes i have good days and i want to say my theme song is "makin it" by david naughton...hahaha, even though that's one of the corniest songs in the world, i love it because it's about turning your life around, and after everything that's happened in the last year, that's definitely what i'm trying to do. definitely one of my theme songs is "why not (the mcmix)" by hilary duff...extremely lame, i know, no need to tell me, but so true. i love that song. and i love just doing whatever i want to and being bold and outgoing and all of that...i really am...some people are like megan, you're crazy, but i'm just like whatever...basically, i don't like to think about consequences....idk, i guess i don't really have a good answer....maybe because i have so many answers, it really is "jack and diane"......about changes and life going on...gosh, i love corny 70s/80s music, haaaaa...i do.
but i think i finally realized that this song is about the stranger by albert camus:
killing an arab by the cure....
Standing on the beach
With a gun in my hand
Staring at the sea
Staring at the sand
Staring down the barrel
At the arab on the ground
I can see his open mouth
But I hear no sound
I'm alive
I'm dead
I'm the stranger
Killing an arab
I can turn
And walk away
Or I can fire the gun
Staring at the sky
Staring at the sun
Whichever I chose
It amounts to the same
Absolutely nothing
I'm alive
I'm dead
I'm the stranger
Killing an arab
I feel the steel butt jump
Smooth in my hand
Staring at the sea
Staring at the sand
Staring at myself
Reflected in the eyes
Of the dead man on the beach
The dead man on the beach
I'm alive
I'm dead
I'm the stranger
Killing an arab
i used to think this song was racist but now i get it. i feel retarded for not getting it before. now it's one of my favorites. so is the stranger, which i was reading today at lunch at friendly's.....i like it because it's about killing an arab. i am not racist. i do not hate arabs. i hate AN arab. but my hate for one has translated into avoiding all simply to avoid the memories. and i would like to kill AN arab. not all arabs. seriously. i'm not racist.
anyway.
i think volleyball tournaments are meant to make girls like me feel bad. there are so many tall and skinny girls here that it could be an america's next top model casting call. a lot of the girls are really pretty too, even though some are really ugly or look like men. there's actually a girl here who looks just like frankie, and if you know frankie you know that's not a compliment, especially to a girl.
oh, speaking of frankie, he has a new gf. and new as in new from the last one, not new from me, we haven't been dating for a loooooooooooong time, so long i should probably not be able to remember every detail of that brief relationship, but somehow i still do. anyway, this new chick is a cheerleader, so that's why he, via his friend charlie, called me for directions to the bball game at my school too weeks ago. i didn't think frankie was the type to go to sporting events. gosh he's such a poser. i looked at this girl's facebook and i didn't get the vibe she was really into the same things frankie is, but of course it doesn't matter as long as the girl is hoooooooot. not that she would have to be smart. i'm not saying this girl isn't smart, i don't know her of course, i'm just saying that dating a smart girl would actually be kind of a pain to frankie because he wouldn't understand half of what she was saying....oh, i'm so sweet. 0:)
anyway, katie's not playing. her ankle hurts too much. her team is playing very well though. they've actually won quite a few games.
this morning was nice and relaxing. i went swimming/hot tubbing for a long time. then i got ready while watching the goonies. then i went to meijer which was actually really cool and they had some really cute sweats kinda in the style of victoria's secret pink, and you can bet i bought some!!!! then i finally made my way over here....then went to chipotle for lunch, where they were incredibly rude to me (fat people discrimination, i swear, they were looking at me mean because i'm fat), so i left and went to friendly's like last time we were here. this town isn't so lame. i judge a town by what stores/restaurants are here. and there's a lot. i mean it's got everything we've got practically, it's just really flat around here. anyway, i tried to get my nails done but they didn't have room for an appointment so i came back here to watch.
anyway, my battery is low, i gotta go. aaaaah, love bsb.
